An Introduction to Renewable Energy Solutions

!: Nice An Introduction to Renewable Energy Solutions

We hear so much in the media about the pending energy crisis and reducing our dependency on sources that cannot be renewed. We hear that our children and grandchildren will find their fossil fuels used up. Renewable energy solutions continue to provide and produce power over and over again.

This article will discuss three of the easiest-to-use and most common renewable energy solutions including: hydro solutions, wind solutions, and solar solutions.

HYDRO

Over 70% of our planet is covered in water. Why shouldn't we use it to create electricity? Hydro energy ("hydro" means coming from water) can easily be converted into electricity for use in powering vehicles and other electrical equipment.

Currently, 90% of the "green" power produced is via dams built to tap into the muscle of water. Hydro electric dams can generate electricity on a large scale. One concern that comes with an increase in our use of hydro power is that it may adversely affect plants and animals that need those water sources to survive. Finding the proper balance between using these plentiful renewable energy solutions and protecting our plants and wildlife is an ongoing project.

WIND

Another source of clean, renewable power is wind. Man has used the wind to help with his labor since before the birth of Christ. Windmills helped with such tasks as pumping water and towing boats. As society became more modern and mechanical, we began to use wind to generate electricity.

Even though they became unpopular for a while, wind turbines and windmills have always been capable of producing tons of megawatts of electricity. Using a windmill on your property can help do away with the need for other sources of power. Wind generated power may be one of the more viable renewable energy solutions to helping our children and grandchildren avoid a debilitating energy crisis.

SOLAR

The sun has always been a source of heat and light for our planet. New technology harnesses the sun's light to "fuel" all sorts of machines that make our lives easier. Solar energy is the most abundant type of energy. It is free to everyone, everywhere. Solar renewable energy solutions can be uses power homes, and even entire neighborhoods.

Not only will it lower your electric bill, but you will again be helping your children and grandchildren solve their future fossil fuel problems. Solar power solutions include solar heating systems, solar lighting systems, solar cookers, solar dryers, and more.

In addition to being cost-effective and healthy for the environment, solar power solutions are low-maintenance and give you a reasonably quick return on your investment. This saves you time and effort as well as money, especially as the system begins to pay for itself. The power solution for your home could be solar, as it has been for many families.
